Initial ideas:
- Digital imaging and editing company. Maybe offer some kind of digital photography solutions and digital video/image editing for people that dont know how.
- Digital marketing and advertisment. Offer a advertising service to companies who want to use digital technologies to advertise i.e electronic bilboards, flash banners for web sites ect.
- Web solutions/web design. offer web design/web templates to the public for personal or professional web sites. maybe incorporate a hosting service.

After a group meeting we have made a decision to develop the Web solutions company idea and incorporate hosting to offer full web solutions and use a sort of ‘pick and mix’ concept to give clients complete choice over the sort of package they want, from complete web design, management and hosting to just templates. There will be a full company description posted on here soon.

Here is a brief summary of what we will do and our job roles:
ONE2ONE Web Solutions
Members:
Rob Deacon – Project Manager
Dan Lake – Graphic Designer
Nick Sykes – Animation/Sound editing
Martin Sylvester – Marketing & Promotion
Craig Walters – HTML author
Company Info.:
We provide a range of web hosting services to our customers in the form of different ‘packages’, as well as offer website design solutions. The customer can choose one of a number of different page templates we provide or can ask for a personally customised site to be developed from scratch.
Our main aim is to show our customers that we aren’t a huge corporate company but a smaller individual one which prefers giving customers a more caring one-to-one hands-on feel with their domain hosting and site development.

Ok, we need to crack on with this project. I think we’re gonna’ have some difficulties further down the road.
To do:
A blog. I think Musaabb wanted us to have a blog page for things like reviews, something like this. We could use WordPress for this. If we scrap the idea of a blog and just have a Customer Review page with the best reviews and things on, I don’t think we’ll get as many marks. This blog feeds into the RSS feed on the front page by the way. Nasty PhP stuff….
1) Finish designing a logo.
2) Create a page design for us to use.
3) Think about RSS feeds for customer reviews and stuff on the front page.
4) Make at least one final flash banner for the front page. Perhaps each section could have an individual one that looked similar but had a different graphic in. Like the Hosting page could have a little house or something and the Contact page an image representing communication.
5) Think about how to make the sign up form.
6) Think about the other graphics we need for the site, i.e. little symbols for things?
7) Think about the actual content of the pages themselves. What do we write where?
Some of these can split up and work on seperately but most would be good to have some collaboration on as a group so we all know where things are going and how things will end up looking.

I have finished a design for the logo…i have posted it up here so take a look. This however may be ammended and tweeked if the others dont like it!
October 25th, 2005 at 2:24 pm
Logo looks good but I think if we simplified it a bit more and made it a bit more consistent it would rock. I’ll speak to you more about it in the practical session in a bit.
October 28th, 2005 at 4:04 pm
We now have a template done. Nick has designed a funcky looking flash banner for the site. Next step is to come up with what we are going to put on.
October 30th, 2005 at 6:54 pm
Nice re-work of the logo, dude. Keep working on the colour scheme with the greens if you still aren’t happy with them. I’m sure you’ll have it nailed down soon.
November 6th, 2005 at 6:59 pm
Template is now complete. Next step is to start creating these templates
November 6th, 2005 at 7:01 pm
I will email you all the template and would like feedback if you are not pleased with it. If you are not happy with the colours I have used, let me know and I can change them
November 7th, 2005 at 1:44 pm
Ive nominated myself to work on the templates…ive got a few now and will do some more. will speak to you all about it in uni.
November 9th, 2005 at 7:19 pm
Right So far…
Ive now completed filling in the content of our new site as the old one i create was not looking professional enough. This one looks great. Having difficaulty emailing it to all of you for some reason but will bring it in on usb tomorrow. Need to get this logo in place. Then we can start adding templates.
November 16th, 2005 at 9:14 pm
Ive made some modifications to the website to incorporate our logo desing and added a few little bits of extra HTML here and there. we need to decided in our meeting tomorow whos doin what to get this all finished…deadlines less than two weeks now.
November 16th, 2005 at 9:23 pm
After much deliberation and thought…and due to the lack of time we now have…it has been decided to modify our company to a web design company who specialise in to one to one design consultation, i.e we will come to you and design the website with you to meet your absolute needs
November 16th, 2005 at 11:48 pm
I’ve put together 3 quite basic 3D logos and have an example of ‘past company work’ ready to give you tomorrow, Dan. I haven’t included any kind of screen shots because I think it’ll probably be easier for you to take them and scale them to the exact size you want without loss of quality. I’ll whack my C.V. on USB too so that can be added with the photos and things.
I’ll have a look at making another website for the portfolio and maybe do some more logos in photoshop.
Other than that, let me know if anything else in specific needs to be done.
One last thing…
…I think we need to speak to Musaab and/or Hugo about Craig unless he makes some kind of effort to do something or get in touch with us in the next few days. We need to make a group decision on this matter.
November 19th, 2005 at 2:56 pm
Have Nick or Martin sent you their work yet, Dan? Let me know if they have or haven’t and I’ll see about making up some more templates and logos.
November 20th, 2005 at 11:41 pm
nick has sent me the animated banner for the site but neither have sent any logos or websites to me yet…i will hassle them!
November 21st, 2005 at 1:00 pm
Ok, I’ll speak to them on Tuesday if they’re going on the Bristol trip.
November 28th, 2005 at 2:17 am
Things left to do: (possibly not conclusive)
- Finish off website
- Make some more ‘past work’ example front pages
- Make some more mock logos
- Finalise pricing and ‘package’ details
- Write the remaining two parts of the pitch (1 - Who we are and what are our skills, 2 - why choose us)
- Discuss the situation so everyone is clear on what is happening (Tuesday, post-IDAT205 lecture)
If you need further info on any of these, contact Dan or myself as appropriate.

I’ll have the report done by Monday. We can put it all on a CD-ROM that morning and practice the pitch.
Oh, and about that (the pitch I mean), I’ll see if I have time to write the rest of it. Otherwise, Craig said he’d do it. So it might be good to have a back up. It can always be used Monday morning to add to what he’s written anyway.
How’s the web site coming along? And, has Martin given you anything yet?
December 3rd, 2005 at 6:13 pm
Hey chaps, e-mailed you all this afternoon. Finishing off the ‘pitch’ today and it will be ready to practice 2moro (sunday). Rob if you want to jot down some notes for it then go ahead, just in case I leave anything out.
In regards to Monday, if it’s okay with the rest of the group I’ll do the main ‘pitch’ and maybe one other could add one or two points, for a bit of variation above anything else. Let me know what you guys think we can talk about it when we practice.
December 4th, 2005 at 4:59 pm
Ok guys.
Just a little run-down of what we need to have completed by the end of our ‘pitch’:
1) Live website
2) CD-ROM
3) Copy on server
4) References - books/websites
5) Webography - detailing the sites we looked at and why
Actually on the website:
1) Original idea for company/agency/organisation
2) Description of same (mission statement)
3) Products/services offered
4) Profiles of individual members
5) Selection of best work (based on course projects) with annotation
6) Compelling images/sound/text
7) Content and form appropriate to such a company/agency/organisation
Most of these are done hit me back with anything that needs to be added, still plenty of time.

We’ve pretty much done everything there that was written on the brief.
I’ve written the report, all 4 pages of it, and created a Gant Chart like required. It contains a fair bit of what we need to hand in, so it backs up the website.
Speaking of which, Dan has all but finished that side of things.
All that’s left to do is to look at the pitch you’ve written and see how you’re going to present it.
After that, everything goes onto a CD for Hugo and Musaab and we talk about Peer Assessment.
Remember everyone, we meet 9am outside Babbage on Monday 5th December (today).
